Meet the Queen
Dr. Naida Rutherford serves as the Richland County Coroner, a role that requires exceptional forensic skill, unwavering integrity, and deep compassion. She stands at the intersection of science, law, and community service—advocating for those who can no longer speak for themselves and ensuring every case is handled with dignity, truth, and justice. Her leadership has earned the respect of colleagues, community partners, and citizens across the county.

Her presence in the Coroner’s Office has elevated forensic standards and inspired countless young women to see themselves in positions of scientific authority and public leadership.
Through her work with Coroner’s Campus, she is shaping the future of forensic science and public safety. 2026 NONPROFIT BENEFICIARY
Coroner's Campus
Coroner’s Campus is the 2026 nonprofit beneficiary of The Queen’s Ball of Columbia, chosen to honor Dr. Naida Rutherford’s commitment to science, education, and community well-being. The organization expands access to forensic science education, STEM learning, and public safety programming for youth across the Midlands of South Carolina.
Its work includes hands‑on forensic workshops, STEM career exposure events, school outreach with public safety professionals, and scholarships that remove financial barriers for motivated students. Every initiative reflects the same spirit of service and scientific inquiry that defines Dr. Rutherford’s leadership.
Funds raised through The Queen’s Ball directly support Coroner’s Campus programs, scholarships, and community outreach—making each sponsorship an investment in the next generation of forensic scientists, STEM leaders, and public safety professionals.
